If you are looking for help in designing your billboard, you have come to the right place. Here at Tilton Signworks we work with you to help get your message across, from concept, to production of the actual board. Some important factors to keep in mind when beginning the designing process:
Keep It Simple- A good Rule of thumb is 8 words or less - Very tough to accomplish, we know! It is not a business card, people have a very limited amount of time to read your board, factors such as backgound, speed limit of location, what side of the road it is located on are all things to bear in mind.
Have a Clear Message - If you try to market too many things at once, you may ultimately cancel out your entire message. Sometimes it takes a few times to figure this out, so don't be discouraged if your first board does not do everything you hoped it would do, we try to advise, but sometimes a client has a clear idea of what they want and don't realize their error until it's 12x24 feet tall! Billboards often changed out a few times a year to keep people's attention, at a minimum though they are changed out at least once a year.
A Picture really is worth 1000 words! A well placed photo with some supporting verbiage - like Name, Location, web address, and phone number are often all that is needed for an effective design. We have lots of stock photos, or a great place to purchase inexpensive art is istockphotos.com We can also use a photo from your camera, just be sure it is at the best resolution you can get, we will take a look at it and let you know if it will work for our purposes. Taking pictures is not as easy as it would seem, and professional photos will look typically clearer and nicer.
Contrasting Colors-Generally we like to stay away from a white background, white up against a dark building or forest is fine, but most of the time you will be competing for attention with a light blue sky, and a colored background can help pull your prospective client's eyes to your board, where they will then get your message. With a white background, you are solely relying on the copy to attract attention.
At this time, we are not offering installations, but we can guide you on how to install them yourself, or give instructions to your hired contractor if they have never done one before.
